Getting Started
In order to assess your child's orthodontic needs, an orthodontic consultation is needed. At the consultation, Dr. Staggers can determine what problems, if any, are present, how they may be corrected and how long treatment is expected to last. An estimate on the treatment fee will also be given. Once a treatment fee has been determined, payment plans can be discussed. In addition, specific questions that you may have regarding treatment and dental insurance will be answered.
If your child needs orthodontic treatment, a records appointment will be necessary. A set of diagnostic records, which include plaster models of the teeth, radiographs of the head and teeth, and a detailed dental examination, is needed to determine what problems are present, how severe the problems are and how they may be best corrected. After evaluating the records, Dr. Staggers will schedule a treatment conference with you. At the treatment conference Dr. Staggers will discuss the specific orthodontic problems that are present, how they may be corrected and how long treatment is expected to last. The fee for orthodontic treatment and financial arrangements will also be discussed. If you have questions about your teeth or your child’s teeth, please schedule a consultation appointment by calling 540-722-6700 so that Dr. Staggers can inform you of your orthodontic needs and treatment possibilities.
Treatment
Fees
Treatment fees are based on the severity of the orthodontic problems, the type of orthodontic appliances used and the length of treatment. Affordable payment plans are available. We welcome insurance and will assist you in filing your claim. Master Card and Visa are accepted.

The Office Schedule
Most orthodontic patients are school age children, and unfortunately not every patient can be scheduled after school every time. Since each patient receives personal attention directly from Dr. Staggers, there is a limit to the number of patients that can be seen after school. Appointment times can be rotated so missing the same class can be avoided. Dr. Staggers respects patients' and parents' time, and running the office schedule ON TIME is a PRIORITY.
Braces
A full set of braces can correct many orthodontic problems. Several different styles of braces are available. Stainless steel braces are silver in color and are most commonly used. Braces can also be gold. Tooth colored braces, which are made of porcelain, are also available. Colored ties can be used on the any type of braces to create colorful patterns. For patients not wanting to draw attention to the braces, clear or silver ties can be used.
Sterilization
For your health and safety, all instruments, including handpieces (drills), are heat sterilized following each use. The effectiveness of sterilization equipment is routinely monitored.
